Orange Business Services jumps up in the Lighthouse Services Index

Lighthouse Services Index October 2009Orange Business Services is the most high profile gainer in the October edition of the Lighthouse Services Index. The firm gained 7 positions and made it to the top 25 list as analysts recognized its Global and Unified Communications Strength. KPMG has also moved up 4 positions in October and made it to the top 25.

The top gainers for October are BearingPoint and Dimension Data – both up 8 positions. The acquisition of BearingPoint’s government services contracts by Deloitte has helped the firm move up to the 17th spot in October. Focus on the deal also helped Deloitte move up 2 positions to the 8th spot. Dimension Data which launched its Technology Lifecycle Management Assessment service to help organizations to simplify their communication networks also went up 8 positions in October.

The top loser for October is Pricewaterhousecoopers which slid down 11 positions to the 34th spot. The firm along with Ernst & Young(-3) dropped out of the top 25. Unisys also dropped down by 7 positions to the 12th spot in October.

Getronics improves its position in the Lighthouse Services Index

Lighthouse Services Index - September 2009Unisys is the most high profile gainer this month. Analyst focus on the firm’s outsourcing and infratructure services has helped the firm move up to the 5th rank. CGI Group, which was the biggest loser last month, has jumped back and is up 8 positions this month. The firm has signed a 4 year contract with the Canadian government and is now ranked 31st.

Getronics which has signed a contract for providing services to Enexis is the top gainer this month. The firm has jumped up 11 positions and is now ranked 20th. Getronics and Ernst & Young are the two new entrants in the top 25 rankngs for this month.

Verisgn and Orange Business Services have dropped down 6 and 8 positions respectively and are the two firms that have dropped out of the top 25 this month. BT Global Services which moved to the top 5 last month has also dropped down 4 positions and is now ranked 9th.

BT Global Services moves to the top tier in the Lighthouse Services Index

Lighthouse Services Index - August 2009BT Global has moved up 2 positions this month and is now ranked in the top 5 firms of the Lighthouse Services Index. The firm has improved its ranking as analysts focus on its Managed and Professional Network Services. The firm’s chairman has highlighted difficulties with the BT Global Services business and identified it as a key area for improvement. It will be interesting to see the change in financial performance and analyst focus in the coming months.

Logica has made noticeable improvement in its ranking and has moved up 4 positions this month. The firm has announced good financial results in a challenging business environment and has also launched LogicaTV to boost its brand. Keane has shot up 8 positions and is the top gainer this month. The firm has acquired certain portions of BearingPoint’s commercial business in North America and is ranked 47th. Orange Business Services has improved its rank by 4 positions and is the only new firm to enter the top 25 this month.

CGI Group is the biggest loser this month and has dropped down 9 positions. The firm has failed to get a single mention from IDC and is currently ranked 39th. KPMG is the only firm to drop out of the top 25 this month.

CSC moves up in the Lighthouse Services Index

Lighthouse Services Index - July 2009The most high profile gainer this month is CSC which moved up 2 positions. The firm has been mentioned in analyst reports for its SOA based systems integration capabilities and its plans to move into providing new cloud services is sure to keep analysts focused on the firm.

The biggest gainer this month is CGI Group which announced improved revenues in an otherwise tight economy. The firm has gone up 7 positions and is ranked 30th this month. BT Global’s plan to launch VDC (Virtual Data Centre) services to help organizations consume their IT and networking infrastructure as a service has helped the firm improve its rankings this month. It has moved up 5 positions and is now ranked 7th. Verisign and KPMG are the two firms to enter the top 25 this month and are ranked 23 and 25 respectively.

TietoEnator has suffered the biggest decline in ranking this month and is down 8 positions. The decline may be attributed to the firm launching itself with a new brand name “Tieto” since December 2008. Getronics which was acquired by KPN in 2007 has also gone down 6 positions. The firm has recently outlined new plans to revive its fortunes and we may see renewed analyst interest in the firm. Getronics and Patni are the two firms to have dropped out of the top 25 this month.

Unisys & Convergys gain in the Lighthouse Services Index

Lighthouse Services Index - June 2009The high profile gainer this month is Unisys which has moved up 2 positions to the 5th spot. The firm has announced a new outsourcing agreement with Hertz as well as a new offering to help reduce support costs for its clients. The biggest gain is in the score of NextiraOne which has moved up 8 positions this month. The firm is now ranked 45th in the Lighthouse Services Index.

The top 25 list has quite a few changes this month with Convergys (a strong riser), BearingPoint, Lockheed Martin and Patni being the new entrants. The most high profile entrant is Convergys which has been ranked 6th in the 2009 Global Outsourcing 100 List. The improvement in its score this month has helped it move up 7 positions and it is now ranked 19th.

BearingPoint has recovered partially from the steep drop last month and is up 5 positions. It has completed the sale of its North American Public Services business to Deloitte in its drive to become a leaner and more profitable venture. Patni, which has opened its new EMEA headquarters to drive sales, is also up 5 positions this month and is now ranked 25th.

Orange Business Services is the top loser this month. The firm has announced affordable Microsoft Mail data bundles for UK businesses but has dropped down 10 positions and are now out of the top 25. Verisign, TietoEnator and KPMG are the other firms to drop out of the top 25 this month.
