Verizon is the highest profile mover this month and has raced upto the 3rd spot in the Lighthouse Telcoms Index this month. The firm has teamed up with networking giant Cisco (ranked 15th this month) to offer new productivity enhancing services and has also been recognized for its environmental initiatives. Sony Ericsson has also improved its ranking by 4 positions this month and settles at the 20th spot. The firm has launched its new environmental warranty designed to recycle its products in an environmentally sound way. It will be interesting to see if such initiatives help it to improve its market share in what is an increasingly tough business environment.
The biggest gainer this month is PCCW which has moved up 12 positions. The firm has gained focus as analyst firms evaluate the financial performance of telecom providers in Asia.
The biggest decline in fortunes is in the ranking of Siemens Communications. The firm was the biggest gainer last month but has gone down 12 positions this month. The firm has recently announced the availability of OpenScape Mobility solution and analyst focus may help it regain some of its lost ranking next month. Cable and Wireless has also dropped by 9 positions and is ranked 42 this month.
